The Great Oxygen (o2) Sensor Escapades

In all honesty, I didn’t even know what an Oxygen Sensor was, let alone the fact that they are a vital part to your car. Turns out, about 100k deep in the mileage of your car, you’re gonna need to get these suckers replaced. Here begins my epic tale … conquering the perils of knowing nothing about cars. Long story short, I’m driving home from wherever it was and my check engine light goes in. I make the mistake of taking my car to Bloomington Auto Tech to get it checked out. They charged me 70 bucks just to get it looked at. I found out about an hour later that Auto Zone will do it for free. Check off the first mistake. So I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon, and I got the error code PO135. The bums over at Bloomington Auto Tech tell me it will cost 585 dollars to fix. After cleaning up my soiled drawers, I promptly tell them no. I did some research online, and found out that the PO135 error code indicated that the two front sensors, before the catalytic converter needed replacing. So … Auto Tech quotes me $188.92 a pop. Riiiiiight. Auto Zone had the same sensors, in ‘universal’ format, for $68.98 each. For those who care, I bought Bosch Universal Sensors Item #15733. Anyways .. I called around a few local shops, some said they wouldn’t install universal oxygen sensors, some said they would. I found a nice shop that did the o2 sensor job in 45 minutes and charged 66 bucks.

Long story short, I hate Bloomington Auto Tech.

Hope that story helps you out (someone, anyone). I did a lot of searching for the PO135 error code, oxygen sensors, and o2 sensors and found a lot of different information.

I also hear its not too hard to do on your own if you have the slightest clue as to what you’re doing (which I obviously didn’t).

Saved damn near 400 bucks, bought a new Adams Insight Driver to celebrate … no big.

Correction

So it came to my attention that the photoshop links doesn’t work. My school (SLIS) has some funny naming issues going on with their servers. Anyways, it has been fixed. Also, I will be adding to my gallery today to include new Oregon pictures. Check it out in my gallery.

Photoshop / Flash work

I was going to just make a quick note about my final project for my flash workshop to let everyone to see, but instead I just thought I would give you all the link to all of my work for not only my flash stuff but also my photoshop work as well. I had no experience whatsoever in flash, and limited experience in photoshop. I am pretty proud of how much I learned in only 6 weeks. Take a gander!
